Barking engineering (The Forge), located in Suffolk, was originally a village forge which opened over 500 years ago. During the 1960’s The Forge was closed, for several years, before re-opening as a small general engineering business, specialising in gates, railings, staircases and fire-places.
I started working at The Forge at the age of 16, working as an apprentice (1978), until taking over as the owner in 1993. Now myself and Stewart Arnold run Barking Engineering, producing quality metalwork and bespoke designed items to order.
